Week 11 (10/11/2022)
Mr. Razif briefed us on our final project. He offered us five choices for Game Audio. This project requires us to
create the sound and bring the game video to life without background music.
Then,
he showed us some senior examples of the final projects. He also
introduced us to some methods to create sounds for game audio, and also use the function in adobe audition to create certain frequency to modify the pitch of the audio.
Mr. Razif briefed us on the difference between film audio and game
audio so that we're clear on the requirement when choosing it for our
final project. He then showed us how to use certain features in Audition
to generate specific effects during the tutorial sessions.
Features Mentioned:
- Effect - Generate - Tones (suitable for game audio)
- Effect - Phaser (sci-fi effect)
- Effect - Flanger (robotic sound)
- Pitch shifter - Pitch bender (lower audio's frequency)
Week 12 (14/11/2022)
I started working on this final project by this week. After brainstorming over the footage
videos,
I've decided to pick 'Battleblock Theater' Game Video as the material
that I want to further work on because I was able to have the image in
my mind.
First of all, I plan to draft out an audio storyboard with whatever necessary audio from the game video. I'm thinking of making a draft audio before proceeding, so I can better image the audio that are going to be created.
- walking on hard surface
- jumping
- landing
- gem collect
- flag string kinda sound
- push
- kicks (hits)
- mobs took damage
- mobs fallen
- object flying & land
- mine explosion
- explosion variation 2
- loud stomp(high jump)
- walking on soft surface
- teleportation
- flower spread
- pop sound (collection)
- pop sound (stage cleared)
- disappearing
- machine pushing something
- celebration sound
- company chop chopping sound
- metal sound hitting
- flipping paper
Week 12 (15/11/2022)
I recorded multiple of the sound effect in the recording studio, I also came out with a complete list for me to work on the sound effects easier afterwards.
Week 14 (28/11/2022)
I finish recorded the remaining audios, and at the same time sorted out the usable audios into their respective audio files.
I categorized all my audios into 3 categories for me to look it easier
1. Audio recorded in studio
2. Audio recorded in house
3. Completed audio
In the process, I applied Denoise for some audio that I feels necessary.
Meanwhile, I played around with the effects such as 'EQ', 'Modulation', 'Pitch Shifter', 'Reverb'/ 'Dereverb', 'Echo', 'Stretch', 'Pitch Bender', and more on my multitracks. I keep on trial and error until I successfully applied and achieved my desired and expected sounds.
Week 14 (1/12/2022)
Up until I'm satisfied with the audio, I combined the audio and video in Wondershare Filmora.
This is the version that i created with only footsteps and other basic sounds, with minimal audio editing.
Ver 1
After I was happy with the result, I exported the multitrack mixdown which I added every possible audio with the respective audio editing done. This is the version that awaiting the feedback from Mr. Razif.
Week 14 (9/12/2022)
Unfortunately, Mr Razif is facing technical issue with his devices, so I make changes according to my classmate Hadi's feedback. His feedback was some of my sound is very soft, so I can consider boosting up the sound so it is more audible. After revising my multitrack again and again, I increased and decreased the volume for some sound, which in detail are:
1. Increasing the pushing sound
2. Increased the teleporting sound
3. Decreased the Flag Flower pop sound
4. Increased the land mine flying sound
this will be my FINAL OUTPUT for Final Project: Sound Design / Silent Game Audio

REFLECTION
I was totally lost when I was told that I had to create a game audio all by myself, and I was worried that I would run out of time
to complete my other module's tasks. Fortunately, this project was done
smoothly, and the remaining modules' projects were also done moments before submission. Thanks to this project, I have become more comfortable with Adobe
Audition, and more familiar with the techniques. Notably, I had so much
fun in the process of recording and exploring sounds, especially when I'm able to learn how to control the controls in the recording studio!
In
fact, I have learned a lot about sounds this semester while studying
this module. Working with sounds is an amazing skill that I've developed
as I've been able to apply it in my other module's projects such as Game Development. Before taking this module, I never thought that sound requires so much knowledge, and creating original sound takes so much effort. Dont even mention how much effort it is to "shape" the sound until the output that I'm looking for
Lastly,
I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Razif for taking the time
we need to explain things to us and giving us honest and constructive
feedback in order to help us improve our skills and works. I appreciate
his warmth and willingness to facilitate the class and clarify
information. All in all, I am grateful for taking this module this
semester with Mr Razif. Even though it's extremely tiring to take all 3 module of Mr Razif (Sonic Design, Experiential Design, Game Development) at the same time, but it's a fun journey, and I learnt a lot of knowledge through the process.
