Task assigned / Instruction

Based on our findings, we were asked to design and create our own 2D side scrolling/platformer game. The game design document serves as a blueprint for our game and will contain all the necessary information and visual references to develop the game. We are expected to research more on matter to determine the necessary content items for our own Game Design Document.

Week 2 (8/9/2022) - Week 3 (15/9/2022)

IDEATION

I started to brainstorm what type of experience i can make, i came out 2 type of different game idea for Mr Razif to look through.

Game Idea 1

The first game idea i have is to make a platformer game that's kinda similar with Vampire Survivor/Holocure which the enemies will come from all directions, then the playable character will try to survive as long as possible.

Game Idea 2

My second game idea is a to create a platformer game that has the concept of knights saving the Princess Peach. This is kinda similar with how Mario saving the princess. So basically the playable character will fight/run through multiple stages until he/she reaches the finale level to rescue the princess.

FEEDBACK

After coming out with both of the game idea, I consulted with Mr. Razif after the class. He preferred my 2nd game idea since he feels like that idea can come out more interesting gameplay than game idea 1. He then recommended me to do more research regarding attacking method and also gameplay tactics like a simple puzzle. It is because the more the puzzle, the longer the time that players will consume in a single stage, so it makes the game content feels longer. He also recommends me to aim for playability and completion of the game.
