Week 3 (15/9/2022)

This week, Dr. Razif taught us the difference between XR, AR, and MR. I finally acknowledged the difference between MR and the well-known XR and AR after many years of curiosity. MR is a technology which relies on actual space in real life, such as the elements of different heights of assets, and also human's hand, which requires the help of professional assets such as hololens.

Next, I learnt that design related professionals uses prototype to verify information of the products. The prototype usually are made in paper and digital, but for furniture related prototype they use physical method because they need items like clay to make it. Finally, Minimal Viable Product (MVP) is the most important thing to be created. It is the same logic as, without the ability to order car rides, then there won't be uber or grab. So if the MVP don't have the minimal function, then it won't work as an MVP.

Finally, we dive into Unity and create our first AR experience. I learnt that in order to add image as QR code, the most important thing is the image's contrast and unique point, the more complex shape the better it is as the marker. Then, we learnt how to made our own QR image and make it work inside Unity as in-class exercises.
